Are you trustworthy?

Consumer Reports: "Participants seemed to make their credibility-based decisions about the people or organization behind the site based upon the site's overall visual appeal."

Is your site up to standards?

We use modern techniques that meet W3C standards so your website will be maintainable, compatible, and accessible by the largest body of customers.

Website-Construction Standards

What Is the W3C?

The World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C, is the accepted international organization that creates standards for development on the World Wide Web.

Do Most Developers Meet Standards?

Most developers do not meet standards. It is much easier to develop websites with older, less accessible and less maintainable technology. Plus, it is difficult for a non-programmer to tell the difference between solid code and less reliable code.

Demonstrations

The W3C provides "Validators," which are programs to check websites for invalid code. You can validate this page for an example. Try validating your site or your competitors' sites.

Why Should I Worry About It?

Standard code:

  • Minimizes effort required to update content, so is cheaper to maintain
  • Uses bandwidth more efficiently, reducing hosting costs
  • Ranks better in search engines, helping customers find you
  • Reduces load times, keeping customers at your site
  • Is more consistent across older and newer browsers
  • Is forward-compatible, meaning less future upkeep

Standards compliance is something that you should consider very seriously before developing any site. We can help you to determine which standards your site should meet.

Multiple Standards Exist?

There are different levels of validation and accessibility, and it usually doesn't make sense to try to meet all of them. If your site is mostly visual, then being accessible to braille screen-readers is not a priority. However, if you're a government agency (or a private firm in some states), that sort of accessibility is legally required under provisions like Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act.

The goal of the W3C standards is to make websites accessible to as many users as possible - a website with validating code welcomes customers with different types of hardware and software available. We will help you to determine which parts of your site need to validate, and how closely they need to adhere to the W3C recommendations.

Small Business, Big Advantage

The technology of the web changes quickly. It would take huge amounts of time and effort and whole teams of programmers to convert a major corporate website into modern, validating code - so instead, they hire web designers to constantly repair and update their old pages, trying to keep up with the rapid pace of the internet. The relative simplicity of your site gives you an enormous advantage - take it!
